Sumycin (Tetracycline)

General information

Sumycin belongs to the group of tetracycline antibiotics. It is prescribed for treatment of tract, pulmonary infections, acne, chlamydia, Rocky mountain spotted fever, typhus, chancroid, cholera, brucellosis, anthrax, gonorrhea, and syphilis.

Directions

It is recommended to take the medicine as it was prescribed by your doctor. Swallow pill the whole. Take it with a glass of water. Do not exceed your recommended dose.

Precautions

Do not take sunbath too long.

Contraindications

Pregnant and breastfeeding women, patients with hypersensitivity to the medicine, children under 8 y.o., patients with kidney failure and leucopenia shouldn't use the medicine.

Possible side effect

Side effects can be the following: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of face, lips, tongue, severe headache, dizziness, blurred vision, fever, body aches, severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash, urinating less than usual or not at all, jaundice, confusion or weakness, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, fast heart rate, easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness. If you experience one of them contact your doctor at once.

Drug interaction

Sumycin can interact with the following medicines: birth-control pills, iron supplements, multivitamins, calcium supplements, antacids, or laxatives, penicillins and cephalosporines.

Missed dose

Take the missed dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time of the next intake just skip it and go back to your schedule.

Overdose

If you think you have overdosed the medicine seek emergency medical help at once. The overdose symptoms are allergy or nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Storage

Store the medicine at room temperature between 59-77 F (15-25 C) away from light and moisture, kids and pets. Do not use after expiration term.
